Sorry for my extended absence. I've been busy getting ready to share the following with the world:

I am happy to announce that after 5 long and difficult years I have saved up enough money to officially resign from teaching. I am taking a sabbatical for a year to work on art/freelance work and basically play catch up for the past five years spent dealing with all the stresses of low income public education. Not that there weren't rewarding moments, I certainly learned a lot, but I'm ready to get back to my passion which is creating art and telling stories through images.

So, as of yesterday, I am officially no longer an elementary school art teacher. Instead, I am about to spend the summer working at a camp at the Fort Worth Zoo and hopefully making my way into the ranks there. If not, then this fall I'm off to do self-study in the Colorado Rockies for a year. After that, well, who knows really. There is too much up in the air for me to be able to say definitively if I'll move back to Texas or not. Ideally, I'll spend a year up there training myself to be more marketable and then come back to the metroplex to use some connections I have to possibly work at ReelFX or get hooked up with some publishing house. Either way, I am excited and more than ready for this next chapter in life.

I do actually still have access to the kiln in the art room for the next month, so I will be going up there the next few weeks to use up what's left of my clay from college to create sculptures. If you want one, give me a holler! Prices range from $25-$100 depending on size and detail. Examples: [1][2][3]

As always, if you'd like to follow my more frequently updated tumblr for sketches/doodles/WIPs/etc, then clicky clicky.

You sound confident despite not having concrete plans, and I admire that very much. Too often I feel anxious about my future, but you remind me of how it feels to have excitement and optimism! Best wishes and lots of love! I am always keenly watching your gallery <3
